My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (1 John 2:1)

Have you ever considered the life of an advocate; how they depend on the integrity of those they are representing so their efforts may not be without merit? Have you ever been an advocate for someone? Ever recommended someone for a job; nominated someone for ministry/vestry; ever tried to play matchmaker for single friends? In doing so we either verbally express the need for them not to let us down or we quietly pray they don’t. After all, it is our credibility on the line.

We have an Advocate with the Father who has given the ultimate sacrifice so He can recommend us for the ultimate job; so He can play the ultimate matchmaker. Let us examine ourselves continuously that no one can challenge our integrity so that the enemy of our souls will not have a charge against us.

Let us give our Advocate that which we ourselves desire; to be represented well by those we advocate for!
