“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth”. “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you..” (Deuteronomy 28:1,15)
A few weeks ago I posted this question to my Facebook page and I feel strongly that I need to ask it again and this time give my opinion:
What do you call a nation that says “We are established under Judeo-Christian principles. We worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We are one nation under God”! But go on to say “worship how you want to whatever god you want, or not at all; we will not only tolerate it but will protect it under our laws; it’s your unalienable right!”?
One word….Cursed!
God said of Israel in Jeremiah 18, “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand”. “The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck it up, to pull down, and to destroy it, if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom to build and to plant it, if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it.”
The Lord went on to warn Israel that He was fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against them. The same word is now given to America. “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.”
For many years now God has sent his faithful disciples to warn America of its sinful path and they have delivered God’s message of repentance time and again. However, we have grown more sinful and puffed up with pride. The manifestation of our sinfulness, lawlessness, and pride is now a national shame, yet we continue to claim to be a Christian nation. How can we bare the name of Christ and the shame of sin at the same time? What does God have to do with sin?
He has given us warnings in the way of signs in the skies, in the earth, in the seas, and the rivers and streams. We have been experiencing the plagues of Egypt and the curses of Deuteronomy 28 but we continue to explain them away; we parade our so-called experts with their long titles and credentials to tell us why and how these things come to be….and we believe them. Have we forgotten why Christ chose unlearned men to be his disciples in the first place? Do we think that what is written in the Old Testament does not pertain to us; that God’s word has somehow changed or is only relevant to one people group? Don’t you know that a nation that calls on the name of Jesus is spiritually joined to Israel and share in its blessings and curses?
It’s time to wake up and realize that while the educated among us may offer perspective only the word of God gives truth. They may be able to tell us how a solar eclipse happen but only the word of God tells us why. They may be able to tell how a hurricane develop, but only the word of God tells us why.
Again, one word describes it……sin!
Repent!!!!
