Lying Lips

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
But those who deal truthfully are His delight. (Proverbs 12:22)

Have you read the proverbs lately? If not, you should try reading one chapter per day for the next few months. I once read a chapter a day for one whole year and it still feels fresh every time I turn to it. You will find so much of the Proverbs very relevant to those things that happen in your life and in every world event.

Lying has become an art form and there is no shortage of it these day; except it is taking on new names. Whether it be fake news, falsehood, untruths, etc., it is still a LIE! Unfortunately, we have become so accustomed to being informed that we often don’t take the time to seek out truth. We place our trust in the news anchor, the speech writer, the surrogate, the pastor, and those who go out to draw people onto their side.

There is One who has not changed his view of lying; God still declares that “lying lips are an abomination”. He also declares much more truth and wisdom that we may recognize:

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heed counsel is wise.” “A fool’s wrath is known at once, but a prudent man covers shame” (Proverbs 12:15-16).

He even gives us wisdom to know the righteous ruler apart from the wicked scoffers:

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan” (Proverbs 29:2). “The king establishes the land by justice, but he who receives bribes overthrows it” (Proverbs 29:4). “The righteous considers the cause of the poor, but the wicked does not understand such knowledge” (Proverbs 29:7).

But how can one even begin to contend with such a person? After all, If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace” (Proverbs 29:9).

The one thing that we can count on, is that we will know what such a person is thinking because “A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back” (Proverbs 29:11). There is no shortage of venting these days. It makes me wonder if the counselors have given up on counsel and is waiving the hand of neglect.  They have allowed pride to overrule wisdom and injustice to reign unrestrained. Who will through the flag of caution and who will impart wisdom? “A man’s pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor” (Proverbs 29:23).

Many of us blindly follow unjust leaders, even as they take the broad road to destruction without regard for others. The Lord also provides wisdom for this; “Many seek the ruler’s favor, but justice for man comes from the Lord” (Proverbs 29:26). Herein rests the answer to all of life’s questions; “Justice comes from the Lord”.

To whom are you looking for justice, peace, safety, and sustenance? Don’t put your hopes and trust in man and don’t listen to those who follow a prideful misguided leader. The words of a liar carry less weight than the feathers of a baby bird; even truth that flows from lying lips  misleads those who head it. How can we trust those in authority (spiritual and secular) over us if they lie constantly, or uphold the lies of another?

I will just end with this, “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray” (Proverbs 12:26).

The Hypocrite

The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered (Proverbs 11:9).

Hypocrisy is as old as sin but the world is increasingly turning a blind eye to hypocrisy, just as they have turned a blind eye to sin. It is not just the world though; the church, which is called to be in the world but not of the world, has long been accused of being hypocritical. Sadly, this is true and becoming more shamelessly obvious.

Here in America, Christians joyfully join the world when their political affiliation comes into conflict with doing what is just and right. Why are we so easily deceived? Can’t we see when the enemy is actively trying to trap us? He uses the very same thing that lead to his demise to cause division among us – pride. Pride in our country, pride in our work, neighborhood, family, and especially in who we are.

We Christians must always be mindful that it is not who we are that matters but whose we are. I find myself uncomfortably mindful of the political views of my brothers and sisters when engaging them in conversation. The more I observe, the more I see Jesus’ words come alive and quickly race to fulfillment; “Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law” (Luke 12:53).

It is only the word of God and the Peace of Christ that is currently keeping this world from imploding. While the gospel is spreading like wildfire across the East, the West is slowly drying up and churches are nervously watching the resources they’ve invested in facilities vanish. I wish I had the answer but it will take the work of the Holy Spirit to drag us from the brink, not man.

Have we come to another form of segregation in America? There are some in the church who are holding to Christ’s prayer that we be one just as He and the Father are one. But the loudest voices and those with access at the highest levels are actively threading the needle of hypocrisy with small doses of biblical truth.

If we all don’t stop and examine ourselves in light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ we will go the way of Judas Iscariot; we will betray our Lord!

Revelation 12 and September 23, 2017

Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth (Revelation 12:1-2, NKJV).

On September 23, 2017, one day from today, a sign will appear in the sky above and only physically visible from Jerusalem. If you have the proper software you can view it from your computer or mobile device just as the sun is coming up in Jerusalem on Saturday, September 23rd. According to those involved in this research, the last time this occurred was about 2000 years ago, with one difference – one of the planets involved is different. This specific alignment of the sun, moon, stars, and planets happen about 7000 years ago and will not happen for another 7000 years.

The great sign of Revelation 12 is a woman (Virgo) clothed in the sun, with the moon at her feet, and a crown of 12 stars (the constellation Leo (9 stars) and three wondering planets (Mercury, Mars, and Venus)) above her head. The planet Jupiter is currently inside Virgo and has been there for the past nine months. Tomorrow, Jupiter will exit Virgo (birth) and the moon will be located at her feet. As of 6:30 am today, the moon is currently located in front of and at the upper right of Jupiter. Saturn is currently at the right knee of Ophiuchus, the serpent wrestler, just below the serpent lunging toward Virgo.

Those who discovered the alignment and other true watchmen in Christ have been warning of coming changes on earth. Some postulate that it could be the rapture and beginning of the last 7 years of Daniel’s prophecy (Daniel chapter 9). Almost all agree that it is pointing to something big is on the horizon.

The enemy has mobilized his cohorts to distort the truth, to mock, to cast doubt in the minds of people, and to discredit those who have been sharing this great fulfillment of prophecy. Some media outlets and articles have come out saying these watchmen are calling for the end of the world on September 23, 2017. I have seen their videos and listened to their arguments and while I may not agree with everything they teach, I have never heard those I have been following say the world will end on September 23, 2017. In fact, they believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of the church and the thousand-year reign of Christ on the earth.

Let us each pray for eyes to see and ears to hear so that we may know the truth; that we may be set free from deception. Lord, teach us to live for you and to lean on your words for understanding and discernment. Help us to live our lives in the manner of your Son Jesus our Messiah to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

God In The Midst

Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven (Luke 21:10-11).

Even those who lack discernment can see that this last year has brought about an unprecedented increase in civil turmoil. Racism, cultural wars, and ethnic disputes have become more evident and those who once hid in the shadows are stepping out boldly to declare their sense of superiority. Just this morning, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake hit Mexico, only one of the many to strike at various places around the world this year alone. Kenya, and other places throughout Africa have been experiencing droughts. Their farms have been devastated and hunger binds the stomachs of those affected by the wars in places like Libya. Vaccine resistant diseases are becoming all too common and those that we thought we had under control have broken out even more of late. Those who study the skies testify of frightening sights as asteroids make their way between the moon and earth. The sun increasingly fires of flares like projectiles targeting the earth. It’s flames erupt like earth sized volcanoes, travelling great distance to disrupt the earth’s magnetic waves; whales, dolphins, and other sea creatures lose their sense of direction only to face certain death, beached on shorelines around the world.

If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it? Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets (Amos 3:6-8).

The trumpet has sounded but the people are confused. It has become an unfamiliar sound to those who have turned from the Lord and those deceived by false prophets; those who write books just to line their own pockets.

The Lord is with you in the midst of the storm. He goes ahead to secure your way even as he guides its course from behind. From the earthquake he says “come set your feet on solid ground”. “Do not fear sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught” (Proverbs 3:25-26).

He cries out to you from the midst of the storm saying “I am your strong tower, run to me and be safe; I will never leave you nor forsake you”. “The angel of the Lord encamps around all who fear Him, and delivers them”(Ps. 34:7); “There is no want of those who fear him” (Ps. 34:9b) and “those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” (Ps. 34:10b). In this life we will face difficulties but when “the righteous cry out to the Lord [He] hears and delivers them out of all their troubles” (Ps. 34:17).

When drought and famine takes hold He says “I am the well of life, ask of me and I will give you fountains of living water; I am the bread of life, take hold of me and hunger no more”. When pestilence strikes he says “I am the Great Physician, buy from me medicine at no cost and never again suffer sickness”.

When worry takes hold of you He says “I am your comforter, your guide, your shepherd. Let not your hearts be troubled; you believe in me, believe also in God.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know” (John 14:2-3).

If you are in Christ, rejoice for at the time of great tribulation He will say “Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation is past (Isaiah 26:20).

To all others He says, Repent! Turn from your evil ways. Repent! “For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord; shame shall be the legacy of fools” (Proverbs 3:32a, 35b).

They Helped – But With Evil Intent

I am exceedingly angry with the [Gentile] nations at ease;
For I was a little angry,
And they helped—but with evil intent.  (Zechariah 1:15)

How quick we are to castigate another country or people; to call them immoral and evil. We develop programs and organizations to judge the ethics and determine whether they are violating our man-made human rights laws, and rightly so. The question is, what about God’s laws. Are the nations evaluating how much or how little we are obeying His laws? Is any nation above the Laws of the Almighty?

We have determined to set our own standards of righteousness, simply because of the influence some nations have over the other. God is not impressed, He says we “are all an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are like filthy rags”  or Dung (Isaiah 64:6). We love to praise ourselves and point out how good we are. We stand on the shoulders of others while complaining that they are not standing tall enough. How dare we laud our filthy wealth over the needy and wag our nasty fingers in their faces for not being more like us.

It has been a long-standing trend for conquering nations to treat a conquered people as dogs and roaches; to crush them under their feet simply because they can. Though we have discovered much in this last century, the age of discovery started a long time ago. God began scattering people at the tower of babel and many of them journeyed long distances to discover new lands. He also scattered the tribes of Israel and to this day there have been no confirmation that all 12 tribes have been

found. Still, we know that they all suffer persecution because so it is written that if they were to sin against God continually, they would be scattered from the land and the sword would chase then wherever they went (Deuteronomy 28).

Voyages and “discoveries” which began in the latter 1400s re-introduced many tribes, cultures, and races. Men journeyed under the guise of bringing the gospel; I’m sure many were sincere but with it came greed, hatred, gluttony, death, and all forms of evil. The new world was built over the blood of their victims and on the backs of the less educated. those fleeing persecution brought a worse kind of persecution and cruelty with them.

Recent DNA studies of some American Indians revealed a connection between some tribes and Jews. For many, it confirmed long-standing arguments that the Indians were of the lost tribes of Israel. I still have much to learn about this topic but what is not lost on me is the possibility that these being of the Jewish diaspora cannot be ruled out. If that is the case we have another example of how the gentile [nations] went too far in their punishment of God’s people and how they “helped with evil intent“.

For you, I have a reminder. “[You] will eat the fruit of [your] own way” (Proverbs 1:31a). God has not forgotten how you mistreated those you were to simply correct. Their blood testifies against you from the ground and their souls writhe in anguish for your failure to teach them of their wayward faiths. You built great monuments to celebrate your great accomplishments and throw bones at the workers as though they were dogs. You boast about your IQ as if the knowledge of evil is something to brag about. You take pride in your strength in battle as if shedding blood is a righteous cause.

Because you have disdained all my counsel, and would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, when your terror comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you” Proverbs 1:25-27).

Still, the outstretched arm of God beckons us to turn. To turn from our evils ways and to a more glorious promise. To repent of our sins and turn from the lure of the serpent. To take hold of Christ and the spotless garments prepared for us.

Today, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Do not neglect the outstretched arm of God! Repent!

The Letters of Revelation

Revelation 2:1 “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:

“To the angel of the church of [ ], write……”.

Why did He use the word “angel”? This has caused many of us to postulate on who specifically Christ was talking about. I would suggest we look at the Hebraic and Greek meanings of the word translated “angel” in English; It means “messenger”.

Just about everyone agrees that these letters were for the entire congregations. Why then is it addressed to the messenger? Isn’t John the messenger in this instant, writing the letter to the churches? Looking at the chain of events we see that God the Father sent the message through God the Son, by an angel, to John the Apostle, who then sends it to the leaders of the congregations to pass on. This process has not ended to this day.

The revelation (apocalypse) of Jesus Christ has been continuously passed on from messenger (angel) to messenger throughout the entire church age and will be so until this age comes to an end, shortly. The conditions Christ warns against and/or compliments in these letters continue in the church to this day.

Remember, the angel came to tell John about things past, present, and future. However, with God all things are in the present tense; all thing “are” because He is!

Look around, which of the seven churches do we each belong to? Can we even tell the difference? Is there and apparent difference or have they simply morphed into one body with seven heads?

Still, God preserves his remnant!!

Babylon the Great; A Harlot’s Tale

After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory.  And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!  For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.” (Revelation 18:1-3)

Imagine a city center with buildings that breach the clouds as it boasts heights that dwarf the tower of Babel. In it the nations join together to exercise their authority and people from every nation and language gather to execute trade and unite behind a common cause. In it, the strength of a bull is complimented by a spirit of might to form bonds that reflect the desires of man. Imagine a city where kings of the earth meet as a united body that governs their individual kingdoms; whose laws transcend that of their own lands.

Imagine a city guarded by her proclamation of liberty as she presses the commands of God to her bosom; the tablet of stone that reflect the hand of God on a nation that calls upon His name. She sits as a queen to guard the gateway to the city and nation. Her crown points in many directions as she raises her torch as a light to the nations. Her strong arms bare the broken chains of bondage as her feet tread upon the water. She looks intently to the oceans and her eyes gaze at the stars of heaven. She says ““Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

Behind her sits free ports, long islands, central parks and the queens botanical gardens. In her squares are the pride; the works of our hands. At the heart of her city the hustle and bustle of trade disregards the setting and rising of the sun, nor does the course of the moon come to mind. Her structures are lined with gold, silver, and all kinds of precious wood. In it men trade their souls to wealth and luxury.

Imagine the frames of her tallest towers. How they boast Herculean muscles as their feet pierce the earth to establish a firm foothold. Their corners stretch beyond the heights of Babel and their ceilings reach for the stars. Yet, in one hour fiery flames bursting forth from the heavens as great eagels bring them to their knees. Their mighty walls and Herculean beams melt as wax, sending forth a thunderous shout that scatters its inhabitants. They flee its tumbling mass, weeping and wailing with heads covered in ashes.

In just one hour it is cast down to earth; in just one moment all trade grinds to a halt. People watch from a distance as its smoke rise and the wealthy watch their riches fall as ash. “The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, [stood] at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! For in one hour such great riches came to nothing'”

Imagine the chaos and bewilderment of those who could not fathom such an event. Imagine the thoughts of those who  watched helplessly as “The fruit that [their] souls longed for [fled] from them and all the things which are rich and splendid [fall away from them]. That great city Babylon that sought to reverse the threshing of babel is once again scattered abroad and its foundation is again shaken.

Can you even imagine such a scene?

Yet, as at first, they have pledged to rise again to an even more splendid estate. They boast about jutting into the heavens as they celebrate the work of their hands. Two towers now rise as one. It’s strengthen combined to resist the terror that at first breached it’s heights. They dress its utmost beam with the rainbow and drape her loins with the cloth of their god. Its dwelling place is even more luxurious than at first and its tenants have invited in their friends. They have swept away the ash and rubble from the breach and replaced it with a more splendid place. One where many more souls are sold and traded; where mammon takes a seat in the throne room of their hearts.

Their rejoicing shall be cut short for “with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not be found anymore”. “The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore”.

Though she sits as a queen, she shall flee as a vagabond unless she repents of her fornication and harlotry.

Can you imagine such a scene?
