El Roi

“So she called Adonai who was speaking to her, “You are the God who sees me.” For she said, “Would I have gone here indeed looking for Him who looks after me?” (Genesis 16:13

Have you been in a place where you wonder, “God, where are you?”. Are you in that place right now and are seemingly not getting a response from God? Sometime God shows up where we are not looking for him and where we least expect. Hagar said, “Would I have gone here looking for Him who looks after me?” No, she wouldn’t, is what she is saying. Who would willingly venture into a dry wilderness with your young child(ren) with little to no food or water?!

God shows up when we seek him with all our heart, strength, and resources; He promised He would. He says, “you will call, and Adonai will answer” (Isaiah 58:9). People have figuratively referred to their problems as dry places. God says when we call on Him he “will guide you continually, satisfy your soul in drought and strengthen your bones. You will be like a watered garden, like a spring of water whose waters never fail” (Isaiah 58:11).

Regardless of where you are right now remember it’s not about where you are but who and whose you are. Are you a child of God? He is a good Father who says to us, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11). He is El Roi, the God who sees and knows all. He seeks after you to care for you in dry places, even when you don’t think to look for Him. Hesaves you out of your distress, for He says, “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Genesis 28:15; Hebrews 13:5).

God sees you and he cares for you. He will satisfy your every need and comfort you in your situation. For, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow” (James 1:17). There is nothing too hard for God; no situation too great for Him to deliver you from, and no burden too heavy for Him to life.

Rejoice in Him who sees you! “Adonai is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in Him I take refuge, my shield, my horn of salvation, my stronghold” (Psalm 18:3).
