Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise—dwell on these things.
—PHILIPPIANS 4:8
In what direction is the winds of life blowing you, and do these winds of life swaying your spiritual life. We each receive, process, and respond to information in our own unique way. What we hear, see, and feel affects us differently and how we react may be different from the next person. Some people will receive, internalize, and examine the effect of our response before reacting. Others may be more reactive—either weighing matter in shorter time, or not at all.
Regardless of how we respond to situations, believers in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) must always have Scripture as our guide. “We are no longer to be like children, tossed around by the waves and blown all over by every wind of teaching” (Ephesians 4:14). We should take time to conduct frequent spiritual examinations or ourselves so that we don’t fall prey to the schemes of the Adversary, “deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).
“Practice justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Today, take time to conduct a spiritual checkup to make sure that whatever you do, you are doing in truth, with honor, justice, purity, and love so that Adonai may commend you. Today, walk in the love and faith of Yeshua, “practice justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).
