The rest of mankind, those who were not killed by these plagues, even then did not turn from what they had made with their own hands — they did not stop worshipping demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they turn from their murdering, their involvement with the occult and with drugs, their sexual immorality or their stealing.

Revelation 9:20-21

What would you expect from an adversary who know how everything will end and who would do whatever it takes to win or prevent a total loss? We are in a season filled with chaos on a global scale. People are prophesying that these are the days described in Revelation and the world is experiencing the birth pangs described in Matthew 24.

Ever wonder why after the events described in Revelation 9 the people didn’t repent? What if they just didn’t consider them judgments from God? How could that be? Is it possible that we are getting a glimpse of why people will react to these events without any thought to repentance or that they may be judgments from God? After all, if what we are experiencing is man-made or a hoax it cannot be of God!

The devil doesn’t want us to repent! He wants us to continue in our sins, thinking we are good and that what is happening on the earth have nothing to do with God but that they are either not real or are a result of our own activities. We can file climate change and diseases like COVID in this category. There have been worldwide catastrophes from weather events like hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. We have also experienced Ebola, swine flu, COVID, and other pandemics in recent years. Somehow, we have managed to either dismiss or explain away everything. Those who point to sin and the need for repentance are often mocked or dismissed as crazy. But are they? Wasn’t that also what the prophets experienced?

Human activity can lead to certain geological and/or environmental changes. This does not mean God can’t use that when judging the earth. We actively take part in God’s overall plans each day, which includes the judgments that are coming; just as He used nations to judge other nations throughout biblical history (Isaiah 47:6; Ezekiel 21).

There is a deception afoot! Believers should always consider the source of information, seek the Lord in prayer, and study the Word of God. Anything less, and we may buy into the deception (Matthew 24:24).
